STATS

Bohemians Praha 1905: Determined Bohemians demonstrate growing attacking confidence.

Bohemians Praha 1905 produced a spirited and increasingly assured performance to secure a valuable away point, demonstrating the determination and attacking quality that have characterised their recent improvement. Although Jaroslav Veselý's side will be disappointed with the defensive lapses that allowed Zbrojovka to take the lead twice, the Klokani deserve considerable credit for refusing to surrender and repeatedly finding a way back into the contest. Captain Aleš Čermák was once again central to their success, scoring his third goal in as many league matches with another exceptional free-kick and continuing to establish himself as the team's most influential attacking midfielder. Roman Květ also delivered an important contribution, showing excellent anticipation to convert the late equaliser, while the introduction of Václav Pilař at half-time proved particularly significant. The experienced substitute won the free-kick for Čermák's goal and supplied the decisive effort that Květ redirected into the net. Ladislav Krobot also provided fresh attacking energy after his introduction, helping create the second equaliser and coming close to scoring himself. Bohemians enjoyed 57 per cent possession and demonstrated an encouraging willingness to construct attacks through midfield rather than relying exclusively on direct football. Nevertheless, their vulnerability to counterattacks and occasional lack of defensive concentration remain areas requiring attention. Having secured seven points from their last three league matches, the Klokani can approach their forthcoming fixtures with renewed confidence, knowing that their improved attacking combinations and collective resilience are beginning to produce tangible rewards.

Team preformances

Zbrojovka Brno: Zbrojovka squander advantage despite attacking promise.

FC Zbrojovka Brno will undoubtedly regard this encounter as an opportunity missed after twice establishing the lead against their Prague opponents. Martin Svědík's side began in outstanding fashion, exploiting Bohemians' defensive uncertainty to score inside two minutes through Amadou Dante, and subsequently demonstrated their attacking quality with several dangerous counterattacks. Goalkeeper Adam Hrdina produced an exceptional first-half save to deny Petr Mirvald, while the hosts defended resolutely during periods of sustained Bohemians pressure. Lukáš Penxa's spectacular 74th-minute strike appeared to have secured all three points, but Zbrojovka were ultimately punished for their inability to maintain control after taking the lead. Their defensive organisation deteriorated during the closing stages, allowing Václav Pilař too much space before Roman Květ converted the second equaliser. Svědík expressed considerable frustration afterwards, acknowledging that his team's passivity following their second goal had contributed directly to the dropped points. Despite showing enough attacking quality to win the contest, Brno's inability to protect two separate advantages proved decisive, leaving the promoted side with a disappointing draw on home soil.

Match Overview

Bohemians Praha 1905 demonstrated their fighting spirit to secure a hard-earned 2-2 draw against FC Zbrojovka Brno in an entertaining encounter at the ShipEx Aréna. Twice the Klokani found themselves trailing, and twice they produced the response necessary to rescue a valuable point. The hosts made a dream start when Amadou Dante opened the scoring after just two minutes, but Bohemians captain Aleš Čermák continued his outstanding goalscoring form with another magnificent free-kick shortly after the interval. Lukáš Penxa restored Brno's advantage with a spectacular long-range effort in the 74th minute, seemingly putting the home side on course for victory, only for Roman Květ to equalise eight minutes later. The result extended Bohemians' unbeaten league sequence against Zbrojovka to nine matches and ensured Jaroslav Veselý's side followed their successive home victories over Baník Ostrava and Mladá Boleslav with another positive result

Key Match Events

First Half: Earlz setback forces Bohemians to chase the game.

Early setback forces Bohemians to chase the game.Bohemians arrived in Brno looking to build upon their encouraging recent performances, but any hopes of establishing early control were shattered almost immediately. The hosts launched their first meaningful attack inside the opening two minutes, with Petr Ševčík releasing Tadeáš Vachoušek down the right flank. The forward worked his way into a dangerous position before finding Amadou Dante, who calmly guided a low shot beyond Tomáš Frühwald from approximately 14 metres. It was the Mali international's first goal in Czech football and gave Zbrojovka the perfect start.

The early setback prompted an immediate response from the Klokani, who began pushing forward with greater urgency and attempting to exploit spaces in the Brno defence. Roman Květ and Aleš Čermák were increasingly involved in the visitors' attacking combinations, while Petr Mirvald provided a dangerous outlet down the right flank.

Bohemians came agonisingly close to equalising in the 12th minute. Květ delivered a dangerous ball across the penalty area towards Mirvald, who found himself in an excellent position close to goal. The midfielder appeared certain to score, but Brno goalkeeper Adam Hrdina produced an outstanding reflex save to preserve his side's advantage.

The visitors continued to enjoy promising spells of possession, although Zbrojovka gradually recovered their composure after weathering the initial response. Daniel Vašulín tested Frühwald with an effort from a turning position, while several attempts from distance failed to seriously trouble the Bohemians goalkeeper.

Another opportunity arrived for the Klokani when Mirvald created space for Květ inside the penalty area, but the attacking midfielder was unable to direct his close-range effort on target. Čermák also attempted an ambitious volley towards a partially unguarded goal in the 35th minute, only to send his effort over the crossbar.

As the interval approached, Bohemians increased the pressure once again, forcing the hosts into an increasingly defensive position. However, despite their determination and several promising attacking moves, the Klokani were unable to find the breakthrough and entered the dressing room trailing 1-0.

Second Half: Čermák and Květ rescue precious point.

Jaroslav Veselý responded to the first-half deficit by making two changes at the interval, introducing experienced midfielder Jan Kovařík and attacking veteran Václav Pilař in place of Matěj Kadlec and Jan Matoušek. The substitutions provided fresh impetus, and Bohemians needed just three minutes of the second half to restore parity.

However, just as Bohemians appeared capable of taking control, Zbrojovka produced another moment of brilliance. In the 74th minute, Lukáš Penxa collected possession outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful strike from approximately 25 metres. The ball took a slight deflection off a defender before flying beyond Frühwald and into the net, restoring the hosts' advantage.

The goal represented another frustrating setback for the Klokani, who had worked hard to recover from their early deficit. Nevertheless, the visitors refused to accept defeat and immediately pushed forward in search of a second equaliser.

Veselý introduced Samuel Obinaya in place of Vojtěch Smrž in the 81st minute, and within sixty seconds Bohemians were celebrating once again.

A deep cross into the Brno penalty area was kept alive by Krobot, who intelligently headed the ball back into a dangerous central position. Pilař reacted quickly, driving a left-footed effort towards goal, where Roman Květ arrived to redirect the ball past Hrdina from close range. The 82nd-minute equaliser sparked celebrations among the travelling Bohemians supporters and brought the score to 2-2.

The closing stages remained competitive, with both teams attempting to manufacture one final opportunity. Bohemians nearly completed a remarkable turnaround in the 88th minute when Krobot laid the ball into the path of Pilař, but the experienced midfielder fired over from a promising position.

At the other end, Brno continued to threaten from set pieces, with Penxa attempting another ambitious effort during stoppage time. However, neither side could find a winning goal, and the final whistle confirmed a 2-2 draw.

For Bohemians, the result represented another demonstration of their resilience and growing attacking confidence, with Čermák and Květ once again proving instrumental in securing an important league point.

For us, this point earned on the opponent’s home field is worth more than it is for Brno. We’re happier with it. It was a high-quality match from both sides and certainly an interesting one for the fans. Both teams will be looking back at the moments when they could have gotten the better of the other. We showed character, tied the game twice, and were definitely not the worse team.

Quotes from the managers

MARTIN SVĚDÍK

JAROSLAV VESELÝ

When you’re up by two goals, it’s a shame not to be able to close out the game with a win. We scored early, but our passivity was the problem. After our opening goal, Bohemka had a great chance. After the second goal, we dropped back into a defensive block; we should have been more proactive. When we’re down to ten men and have the ball, we have an experienced player on the field—something like this shouldn’t happen to us. We just waited for Bohemka to cross the ball. Before that, we gave them a set piece, which Čermák capitalized on.
