PILAŘ HAILS BOHEMIANS' FIGHTING SPIRIT
For the second goal, was it a deliberate pass, or were you simply hoping someone would make a run into the area?
"There was a lovely cross from out wide, and Láďa Krobot did really well to knock it back to me from a fairly difficult position. I just wanted to drive the ball towards goal, and I was delighted that Roman Květ managed to turn it into the net. It was a big boost for all of us."
Bohemians managed to equalise twice. What does that say about the team, particularly in terms of mental strength?
"The mental side of the game always plays an important role. Conceding so early knocked us back a little, and that always has an effect on a team. Their goal came from practically their first attack.
"But our response was exactly right. We didn't stop playing, which shows that we're in a good place mentally. We didn't let our heads drop; we just kept going.
"When we got back on level terms, I really felt we could go on and win the match. I genuinely believed that. Unfortunately, we then conceded an unlucky goal from a corner.
"That could have knocked the confidence out of a lot of teams, but we picked ourselves up mentally and managed to equalise again.
"Our mentality is excellent. The fact that we were able to come from behind twice shows just how strong we are in that respect.
"We've extended our unbeaten run, and we want to keep performing like this. It's not just about collecting points, but also about the style of football we're playing. We're playing proper football, and from my point of view, we're playing really well at the moment."
Václav Pilař reflected on Bohemians' draw away to Zbrojovka Brno. The experienced midfielder played a part in both of the Kangaroos' goals, discussing his contributions while also praising Aleš Čermák and the team's mental resilience.
Bohemians earned a point in Brno. How valuable is that result?
"It's a valuable point away from home, but we feel we could have won the match. We'll take the point because we came from behind twice, although we could have got even more out of the game. It's a shame about that unfortunate goal which put them 2–1 ahead."
You came on at the start of the second half. When did you first get an indication that you would be coming on?
"Towards the end of the first half, the coach sent Honza Kovařík and me out to warm up. He told us there would be plenty of action and that the game would suit us. We wanted to go out there in the best possible frame of mind, full of confidence and determined to get the equaliser. Our aim was to help the team get a positive result."
You were involved in both goals. Are you pleased with your own performance? You also managed to get into some shooting positions…
"I have to say, I really enjoyed playing. I'm feeling very good and training fully. I was pleased to win the free-kick after being fouled, and I have to take my hat off to Aleš Čermák because he struck it beautifully.
"It's not just about the important goals he scores. His overall contribution to the team is fantastic. He's playing at international level right now, and his performances are helping us enormously."
Aleš Čermák scored from another set-piece. You've scored some spectacular goals yourself, so how would you rate his effort? That's two games in a row in which he's produced a wonderful finish…
"His goal was absolutely magnificent, there's no doubt about that. I really enjoy playing alongside him. He's an intelligent footballer who always plays with his head up.
"We played together before at Plzeň, and when I joined Bohemka, I needed a little time to get used to his style of play again. I've managed to do that now.
"Because he's always looking up and reading the game, he constantly encourages me to make runs in behind the defence. Not only does he spot those runs, but he also has the ability to pick out the perfect pass because his technique is outstanding."
