STATS

Bohemians Praha 1905 were held to a 0–0 draw by Bohemian FC in a friendly at Dublin’s historic Dalymount Park. The Prague side created several promising opportunities and came closest through Ladislav Almási and Jan Javorček, but were unable to find the finishing touch. At the other end, Tomáš Frühwald produced a number of important saves before the break, with second-half replacement Michal Reichl also impressing as both goalkeepers helped the Klokani preserve a clean sheet.

The match began at a lively pace, although both sides were guilty of some early mistakes in possession. The hosts looked to build patiently and gradually began finding their way into the Prague half. Their first effort arrived after eight minutes, but the shot was directed straight at Frühwald, who gathered comfortably.

Bohemians Praha 1905 gradually grew into the contest and created their first clear opportunity in the 15th minute. A dangerous move ended with Almási meeting the ball with a header from close range, but home goalkeeper Chorazka reacted sharply to make the save.

Four minutes later, the Klokani threatened on the counter-attack. Havel broke down the left before cutting inside and trying his luck from outside the penalty area, his effort flashing narrowly wide of the far post. Havel was involved again in the 23rd minute when he spotted Chorazka off his line and attempted an ambitious shot from around the halfway line, but could not find the target.

The game became increasingly open as the half progressed. In the 28th minute, Almási's determined pressing won possession for Mirvald, who moved the ball on to captain Čermák. His subsequent effort, however, sailed over the crossbar.

Bohemians' best opportunity of the opening half arrived five minutes later. Květ picked out Havel inside the penalty area and his shot was parried by Chorazka into the path of Javorček. The defender cleverly lifted the ball over a challenge to create space for himself, only to fire wide from close range when a goal appeared likely.

The Dublin side almost punished that miss in the 37th minute. Rooney raced onto a ball played behind the Prague defence and, despite finding himself at a difficult angle, drove a dangerous effort towards goal. Frühwald responded with an excellent save, turning the shot behind for a corner.

Neither side could break the deadlock before the interval. The Klokani continued to search for an opening in the home defence, while Bohemian FC threatened from a late corner, but the teams went into the dressing rooms with the score still goalless.

Bohemians Praha 1905 began the second half brightly, with their aggressive high press causing problems for the hosts. Černý tried his luck in the 51st minute but sent his effort over the bar.

Four minutes later came another excellent opportunity for the visitors. Kadlec delivered a cross into the six-yard box, where Almási rose to meet it, but the striker was unable to direct his header on target.

The Klokani continued to push forward and Černý threatened again in the 59th minute, although his angled effort was blocked behind for a corner by the Bohemian FC defence.

At the other end, Reichl was soon called into action. The hosts carved out a major opportunity in the 61st minute following a dangerous attacking move, but the Prague goalkeeper produced an excellent reflex save to keep the scores level.

The tempo began to drop after the hour mark as both managers made changes and much of the play became concentrated in midfield. Bohemians Praha 1905 continued looking for opportunities to break through, but the home defence dealt effectively with their attacks.

Reichl was required again towards the end of the 70th minute when the Dublin side put together another promising passing move, but the resulting effort ended safely in the goalkeeper's hands.

Clear chances became increasingly scarce during the final 20 minutes. The Klokani enjoyed a spell of pressure inside the home penalty area in the 76th minute but were unable to turn it into a meaningful attempt on goal.

One final opportunity arrived two minutes from time when the Prague side broke forward on the counter. Černý found Kovařík in a promising position, but his finish was well off target.

There was to be no late winner, leaving the two Bohemians to share the honours in a goalless draw.

The Klokani could nevertheless take positives from their performance, having created several good opportunities, particularly Almási's headers and Javorček's first-half chance. Bohemian FC also had their moments, particularly after the interval, but found Reichl in excellent form whenever they threatened.

Several hundred travelling Bohemians Praha 1905 supporters added to the occasion with superb backing from the stands at Dalymount Park. They formed part of a crowd of around 3,000 who enjoyed an entertaining afternoon at one of Ireland's most historic football grounds, even if the one thing missing was a goal.

We are happy to have played this match. It was an opponent with a completely different, insular style of play, moreover, they are playing for the title until the last moment. We were well prepared for their game, but it's a shame that we didn't take advantage of the chances in the first half.
