Olomouc: Sigma combined an excellent start with disciplined game management to earn a convincing victory and a deserved clean sheet. The hosts were sharper and more dangerous throughout the first half, with Ghali particularly influential in creating problems down the flank and Baráth and Sejk taking advantage to establish a commanding two-goal lead. Although Sigma surrendered more possession after half-time as Bohemians increased the pressure, their defence remained organised and goalkeeper Koutný dealt confidently with the chances that came his way. Bohemians Praha 1905 left the Andrův Stadium empty-handed after a 3-0 defeat to Sigma Olomouc, with the damage largely done during a difficult opening 20 minutes. The hosts took control early through Péter Baráth's eighth-minute opener before Václav Sejk doubled the advantage in the 20th minute, leaving the Klokani with a mountain to climb. Bohemians responded positively after the interval following three half-time substitutions and briefly thought they had found a route back into the contest when Petr Mirvald put the ball into the net in the 69th minute, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside following a VAR check. As the visitors pushed forward, Sigma eventually ended any lingering hopes of a comeback through Marko Soldo's 81st-minute strike, while Jan Matoušek passed up a late opportunity to grab a consolation.

First Half: Sigma seize control with two early goals

Bohemians made just one change from the side that had drawn 1-1 with Jablonec in midweek, with former Sigma player Václav Pilař replacing Jan Matoušek in the starting XI. New arrival Jásir, who had joined the Klokani from Olomouc during the week, was not yet available. Sigma also made two changes and immediately imposed themselves on the game.

The warning signs appeared after only two minutes when Ahmad Ghali tested goalkeeper Florian Frühwald, but six minutes later Bohemians were behind. After winning possession around halfway, Sigma released Ghali down the left. He had time to keep the ball in play and pull it back into the penalty area, where Krivak allowed it to run through to Baráth, who guided a precise finish into the corner for his third league goal of the season. The Bohemians bench appealed for a foul on Almási earlier in the move, but referee Panský allowed the goal to stand.

Sigma continued to pose the greater threat. Frühwald produced an excellent stop from Krivak, preventing Sejk from converting the rebound, and was called into action again as the home side kept the Klokani under pressure.

The second goal arrived in the 20th minute. A ball played behind the Bohemians defence caught the visitors exposed and Frühwald came a long way from his goal. Sigma took advantage, with the move ending in Sejk being presented with an open net, and the striker made no mistake to put Olomouc 2-0 ahead.

Bohemians attempted to respond before the interval and showed occasional signs of developing promising attacks, but they were unable to turn those moments into meaningful chances. Sigma remained in control and deservedly carried their two-goal advantage into half-time.

Second Half: Bohemians try a comeback but fail to capitalise

Bohemians made an aggressive response at half-time, introducing Petr Mirvald, Šimon Černý and Jan Matoušek in place of Pilař, Vojtěch Smrž and Milan Havel. Sigma nevertheless almost struck immediately, Ghali breaking through just 23 seconds after the restart before Frühwald produced an excellent diving save.

Gradually, however, the changes began to have an effect. Bohemians enjoyed more possession and started to carry a greater attacking threat, forcing Sigma to spend more time defending. Beran Květ attempted an audacious lob from close to halfway in the 58th minute, but goalkeeper Jan Koutný recovered to make the save.

The Klokani's best moment arrived in the 69th minute. Javorček delivered from the flank and substitute Mirvald converted, seemingly giving Bohemians the goal they needed to transform the contest. Celebrations were quickly cut short by the assistant referee's flag, however, and a subsequent VAR review confirmed that Mirvald had been offside.

Bohemians refused to give up. Květ tested Koutný from outside the penalty area, while Kareem worked his way into the box and looked for Černý, whose clever backheel was gathered by the Sigma goalkeeper. With the visitors committing more players forward in search of a way back, though, the hosts retained a threat on the counter.

The decisive third goal arrived in the 81st minute. After combining with Baráth, Soldo struck from around 25 metres, his left-footed effort finding the net via the post to put the result beyond doubt at 3-0. There was still time for Matoušek to escape the Sigma defence, round Koutný and seemingly have the goal at his mercy, but from a difficult angle he fired over. Sigma therefore secured their first clean sheet of the league season and Bohemians returned to Prague without a point.

It’s hard to assess this based on the result alone. We didn’t play well in the first half. We conceded a silly goal from a quick counter-attack. That gave Sigma a boost; they caused us problems with exactly what we’d prepared for – balls played behind our defence, runs into the box, and positional rotations. We didn’t know how to deal with it. The second half was better; the substitutions helped, and we levelled the game. A disallowed goal, then another chance. It was clear that either we’d make it 2–1 or Sigma would settle it, which is what happened. I take some of the blame for that too. The fatigue from Wednesday’s match was evident, even though I didn’t think it would be. I should have rotated the line-up more. I no longer rely on the players’ impressions, but given the results, I didn’t want to make too many changes.

I’m particularly pleased that we kept a clean sheet, which was important for us and for Koutný. We got off to a good start. The lads understood what we’ve been working on in training – that sometimes you need to simplify the game and play a simple ball behind the defence or make a run, which is something we practise in training too. It’s a shame we didn’t score more goals. There were plenty of chances. But we were clinical. The first two goals put us at ease. Had we converted that chance at the start of the second half, it would have put us completely at ease. There are still plenty of things we can work on. At 2–0, we gave the ball away a lot, which was a shame. We’d like to maintain control for the whole match. I’ve thanked the players; it was a good match, which we won by a big margin. We’re moving on – we can’t stay up too late, as we’ve got a cup match on Wednesday.
